This past weekend saw a flurry of robotics tournaments - the first Middle School VEX tournament in Hood River, a VEX Elementary tournament in The Dalles, and a First Robotics tournament for elementary and middle school students in Hood River.
These great experiences are the result of lots of passion and work from many educators in the region, including dedicated teachers from several local schools, Wasco County 4H STEM, the Columbia Gorge STEM Hub (at CGESD), and numerous community volunteers. It is also partially a result of a Career and Technical Education Revitalization Grant awarded to CGESD in 2021, in collaboration with Hood River County School District and South Wasco County School District. That grant focuses on expanding access to, and participation in, engineering and computer science pathways in those districts.
